Improve Productivity

Employees in good physical and mental health are more likely to perform well on the job and miss fewer days of work. While employers are concerned about rising health care costs, they also worry about employee performance, retention, and morale. Worksite wellness programs address these key issues and let employees know the company values them. The editor of the American Journal of Health Promotion noted greater returns are seen as a result of increased employee productivity than medical cost savings when wellness programs are instituted. Wellness programs can help reduce employee health risks. Research shows individuals with multiple health risks tend to be less productive than healthier peers (Healthy Workforce 2010, 2001).
